The Subtle Pear

Did you know that the humble (unpeeled) pear has a high content of fibre? It has 0.7g soluble fibre, 3.9g insoluble fibre and a total fibre content of 4.6g. A person should have an average of 30g per day.

Just for your comparison, here are the total fibre content of some other fruits:
Dried dates - 4.3g
Avocado - 3.8g
Dried prunes - 3.1g
Unpeeled apple - 3g
Banana - 1.8g
Payaya - 1.5g

Interesting numbers? So if you are choosing what fruits to buy, consider not only their prices but the fibre content. I love pears. They're sweet, soft and healthy to eat! :)
